What's with all the elevens?

About 11past.com

For a number of years I've noticed that more often than not, when I
randomly look at my watch, phone or other clocks, it's eleven minutes
past the hour. For example, 5:11, 8:11, 9:11, etc.

I started noticing this back in 2002. It subsided after a few months
and then about three years ago it started up again with greater
frequency. It happens many time a week, now. Sometimes, several times
in a single day.

This isn't limited to my waking hours.  It even happens when I'm
asleep! I will usually glance at my alarm clock at least once during
the night, and it's uncanny how often I see eleven past.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about lying awake, watching my clock
waiting for elevens. I mean I'm sound asleep, and I suddenly wake up
at eleven minutes past the hour. Many times it has happened when I
have only woken up once, and only once in the night.

One night, I woke up three times, and each time it was eleven past!

I started telling my friends about this and mostly they laughed at me.
I guess they think I have nothing better to do, than to make this up.
So, I started taking screen shots on my iPhone whenever I turned my
phone on at eleven past, and photos whenever I saw eleven past on
other clocks. In the last year I have captured hundreds of images.
This site, is a gallery of some of those images, beginning with eleven
recently captured sightings.

I should mention that my wife sees elevens with similar frequency.
Maybe that's some sort of sympathetic synchronicity. I don't know. I
do know that several friends have confided to me that they are experiencing
the same thing!

Doing a little Googling I realized there are many others out there,
seeing elevens.

Paranormal theories abound, I suppose; but, the way I see it, only the
God of the universe could synchronize our internal clocks with such
accuracy to cause me and so many others to check the time-of-day at
exactly the same moment, eleven minutes past the hour.

I don't know what all this means, but given the frequency that I am
seeing eleven past, and the fact that no other time of day seems to register with
me, it seems like something is going on and I can't help feeling it's
significant.

So, I created this blog and the 11past.com domain to document
what I am experiencing. Going forward, I will post my eleven past
images here.

Disclaimer: I was born on 8/11 and the number eleven has always been
significant to me; but that doesn't explain the eleven past
phenomenon.

Let me know if you if you are seeing elevens, too, and any theories
you may have.

Who knows, maybe we'll all celebrate somehow on 11/11/11.  ;-)

greetings

I would like to talk to you about your 11 experiences although I don't know what good it would do you or me actually.........smile

I see clock numbers that add or subtract to the number 11 all day long. It is uncanny!

like 4:43 3:26 etc I am telling you that out of say 10 clock views during the day way over 75% are 11's in this manner as well as a few "pure" ones thrown in such as 3:11 6:11 etc

I did a study, being an electrical engineer, (and a bit obsessive/compulsive) to see if the odds make sense....in other words, if there are 75% possibilities of times one could view daily when looking at on the clock which add or subtract to 11 as a result during the times of a typical day, this is not so incredible. So I did an excel file with every possible time in minutes for a 24 hour period....to then analyze it, highlight the views adding to 11 etc...... and really see the percentage of "times" which produce 11 for all possibilities. My analysis finding: It is a one in 5.6 chance! against seeing 11. In other words, I shouldn't be able to see (on the average) by random looking at the clock, more than one eleven for each 6 views of the clock. It would defy "nature". It is as I stated earlier, more like 5 elevens for every 6 or 7 views. The amazing thing is that we have a VCR clock that I haven't taken the time to learn how to adjust hence it is not reading the correct time.......this clock shows 11's THE SAME WAY.

An explanation I have read is that the obsessive nature of say any number (in our case "11") make the brain think it is seeing it more than other numbers...... when if we actually kept a pencil and pad on our person, and documented every view of the clock, we would find out that we are simply subduing other numbers we see and making the "11" views seem prominent to us....because we want it that way. So, being a nut case analyst type, I did this for several days (wrote down each view of the clock). Clearly I am seeing 75% 11's. Uncanny I awaken many times in the morning to see 5:11 2:11 etc just as you mentioned.

On a bummer note here, I was laid off from my job this year on 3/8/11 3+8=11 etc etc etc. I simply can't understand what the mechanism is for this. I don't read anything "paranormal" and am not into voodoo or even "normal" religions or spirits or ghosts and the like.

I found you as a first search on the internet, so I decided to write this long comment. As a note, I did not look at the internet or do any previous "study" pertaining to 11.....it happened first to me as a personal experience without even any pre-prompting or reading about anyone's similar experiences beforehand. This viewing anomaly has been occurring for about a year now.

Thanks!

Hi Duane,

Thanks for the shout out. I'm not into numerology or the paranormal, etc. but I agree it is uncanny. I know a half dozen individuals, including my wife, who see a disproportionate number of elevens, specifically eleven past the hour.

I have not been aware of times of day that add up to eleven, but just for fun I will keep an eye out for this.

I don't think you are a "nut-job", no more that I think I am. Something interesting is going on, but cannot tell you what or why. While I've backed off from posting every occurrence, I'm still seeing plenty of elevens. Most likely means nothing, but interesting nonetheless. My world view has God firmly in charge, and I'm content to leave it at that. :-)

I'm very sorry to hear about your job. I wish you all the best.

Confirmation Bias.
i was surprised to see someone else has this occuring. this started with me noticibly around 2000.day and night.told my family and friends with same result.must be some internal clock thing.
